Diesel/Service Technician Responsibilities
- Performs vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
- Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs, including engine, mechanical and electrical systems; replace parts as required
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Verify serviceability and ensure quality repairs by test driving and adjusting controls as needed
- Keep customer vehicles clean during the repair process
- Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
- Communicate with service advisor or dispatcher if additional work is needed
- Aid service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts
- Maintain a clean, efficient work area and keep the shop organized
- Document all work performed on the repair order in accordance with procedures
- Understand automotive terminology and stay abreast of technology changes
- Follow attendance, timekeeping and work rules; adhere to supervisor directions and confidentiality policies
- Maintain professional appearance per policy and participate in required training and meetings
Diesel/Service Technician Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two-year related experience or equivalent combination
- 310T Licence 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice
