Role Description The Technical Specification Sheet Designer is a contract, on-site role based in Richmond Hill, ON. This role is responsible for creating transparent and accurate technical specification sheets for RENO Lighting products, including detailed product features, performance data, dimensions, materials, and installation requirements.

Day-to-day tasks include gathering information from engineering, product development, and sales teams; translating technical data into user-friendly layouts; and ensuring consistency with brand standards and regulatory requirements. The designer collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to update specification documents as products evolve and to maintain version control and document quality. The role also involves reviewing specifications for accuracy, supporting product launches with timely documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of documentation processes and templates.

Qualifications

- Education or professional experience in graphic design, technical design, production design or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly:
- InDesign




- Illustrator
- Photoshop
- Experience creating technical documents, specification sheets, catalogues, data sheets, manuals or other information-heavy materials.
- Strong typography, layout and information-hierarchy skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately with numbers, tables, dimensions and technical terminology.
- Strong proofreading, organizational and file-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and ask for clarification when technical information is incomplete.
- Must be available to work in office at Reno Lighting’s location.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the lighting industry.
- Experience in electrical, manufacturing, architectural, engineering, construction or another technical environment.
- Familiarity with lighting terminology such as:
- Watts
- Lumens
- Efficacy
- CCT and CRI
- Voltage
- Dimming
- Optics and distribution
- Mounting methods
- Certifications and ratings
- Experience reading and interpreting lighting cut sheets, dimensional drawings, ordering guides or technical product information.
- Familiarity with product-information management and document version control is an asset.
