ABOUT THE POSITION

Nahanni Construction Ltd. is looking to hire project engineers to work at the Giant Mine Remediation Project in Yellowknife, NT.

The Project Engineer will report to the Site Superintendent and support the Project Manager. They will be responsible for assisting with mine site remediation scope activities for various projects, including contaminated soil excavation and treatment, hard rock drilling, demolition of mine infrastructure, solid waste management, drill and blast operations, underground paste backfill, mine water management, aggregate processing, tailings regrading, and water treatment and dewatering.

SCOPE
Utilize Civil 3D to monitor excavations and cover placement according to geotechnical specifications and design drawings.
Develop and implement RFIs, project submittals, and quality control practices.
Daily, weekly and final completion reporting of work progression and documentation for regulatory compliance.
Update Microsoft Project schedules and determine the earned value of work completed monthly.
Develop and maintain tracking sheets for material placement, drilling activities, demolition, water usage,



waste management and fuel consumption.
Monitor aggregate crushing and screening operations.
Monitor paste backfill activities using downhole camera viewing and measurements.
Implement a quality control program.
Review and track survey data in an organized manner.
Comply with Transportation of Dangerous Goods reporting requirements.
Attend Health & Safety, daily toolbox meetings and weekly meetings.

REQUIREMENTS
A Skilled Engineer, Engineer in Training or Engineering Student in either an Environmental, Geotechnical, Civil or Mining discipline.
Previous experience with Civil 3D, Surpac, Vulcan and Microsoft Project would be an asset.
A valid driver’s licence is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be self-motivated and be able to work with limited supervision.
Must have organization and planning skills with the ability to multi-task; a team player with a positive attitude.
