Job Description:
The Garbage Truck Loader is responsible for assisting the driver with the collection of residential or commercial garbage, recycling and organic materials. The position is physically demanding and requires teamwork, efficiency and a solid commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect garbage, recyclables and organics from residential or commercial properties.
Manually load materials into the garbage truck safely and efficiently.
Work together with the driver and other crew members to complete the assigned route.
Handle materials carefully to prevent spills, damage or contamination.
Work safely around moving vehicles, traffic and machinery.
Communicate effectively with the driver, crew and customers when required.
Perform basic equipment checks and report problems to the driver or supervisor.
Help keep the truck and work area clean and organized.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Work outdoors in different weather conditions.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in waste collection, recycling or general labour is an asset.
A valid driver's license may be required depending on the specific location/position.
Positive physical fitness and ability to perform repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and walking.
Ability to work safely and efficiently as part of a team.
Reliable and punctual.
Good communication skills.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong safety awareness.
Willingness to handle garbage and recyclable materials.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain a steady work pace.
