About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Secondary English Tutor to provide in-person tutoring at our office. Our students are working toward robust academic performance and private school admissions, including preparation for CAT and SSAT examinations.
Schedule
Weekdays between 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Saturday availability required
Exact days and hours will be scheduled based on student needs and will be communicated after hiring
No guaranteed hours — this is an independent contractor position, not a part-time employee position
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and/or small-group English instruction
Support reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and critical thinking
Prepare students for CAT and SSAT
Support students with academic English and private school admission goals
Adapt lessons and materials to individual student needs
Track and communicate student progress when required
Requirements
Experience teaching or tutoring English for Grade 8+ students
Robust academic English and writing skills
Familiarity with CAT and SSAT
Experience with private school preparation/admissions is an asset
Robust communication and classroom management skills
Reliable, professional, and comfortable working independently
Able to work in person at our Richmond office
Must be available on Saturdays and weekday afternoons
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
As an independent contractor, hours depend on student enrollment and demand and are not guaranteed.
