The current hourly wage is $30.00 - $40.00 + 12.4% in lieu.

The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Group Fitness Instructor ."

Fitness Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe programs that meet the needs of participants across a range of ages and abilities.

Courtenay Rec is looking for certified and experienced indoor cycling and suspension training (TRX) instructors to leadmorning and/or evening classes as required.

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant certifications in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, CanFit-Pro, ACE, NASM etc.).
- OR a current membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g. BCAK, CATA, NSCA et.).
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
- Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector
- At least 5 years of continuous experience in a similar position.
- Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred.
- Exceptional leadership abilities




- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Solid knowledge of fitness and strength equipment
- Physical abilities to lift and carry equipment up to 45lbs
- Teamwork and collaboration skills

The current hourly wage is $30.00 - $40.00 + 12.4% in lieu.This is an entry level position with opportunities for growth. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.

Copies of relevant skilled certificates, degrees, or tickets will be required at the time of the interview.

You must be eligible to work in Canada (Permanent Resident; Canadian Citizenship).
