TITAN Haptics
Mississauga
TITAN Haptics is a venture-backed startup based in the GTA, pioneering high-definition haptic motor solutions for AR/VR, gaming, smartphones, automotive interfaces, and beyond. We thrive on rapid iteration, creative problem solving, and taking calculated risks to bring next-generation touch experiences to market. Our small, cross-functional teams value initiative, collaboration, and the freedom to experiment.
Role Overview
As a Mechatronics Integration Engineer, you will own the development of integrations and guide customers through their haptic integration projects. You’ll work hand-in-hand with internal hardware, firmware, and software teams to turn concepts into working prototypes and production-ready designs. Your expertise will ensure seamless integration of TITAN’s haptic solutions into diverse platforms and devices.
Responsibilities
Reference Design Development
- Architect and build end-to-end hardware prototypes (PCB layouts, mechanical assemblies, enclosure mockups) that showcase TITAN haptic motors.
- Select and source components (sensors, microcontrollers, connectors, 3D-printed parts) to meet target specifications.
- Collaborate with firmware and software teams to integrate haptic drivers, perform real-world testing, and iterate on performance.
Customer Integration & Support
- Act as the primary technical liaison for customer design-in projects, working with OEMs/ODMs to define requirements, troubleshoot integration issues, and deliver reference code/examples.
- Conduct on-site or virtual demos, workshops, and training sessions to accelerate customer adoption of TITAN Haptics APIs and hardware.
- Respond to support tickets and drive resolution through cross-functional collaboration.
Prototype Validation & Testing
- Design and execute test plans: electrical measurements, haptic waveform characterization, durability and reliability tests.
- Analyze data, perform root-cause investigations, and recommend design or process improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing,
and Product teams to translate customer feedback into new reference design features or product enhancements.
- Provide regular status updates and technical presentations to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers or interns as part of rapid prototyping initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
Hands-On Prototype Experience
- Comfortable designing and assembling hardware prototypes, CAD (SolidWorks or Fusion 360), PCB breadboarding, 3D printing, CNC or laser cutting.
- Proficiency in electronics: PCB design (KiCAD, Altium) soldering, circuit assembly, reading datasheets.
- Familiarity with microcontroller platforms (Arduino, STM32, ESP32) and writing integration code (C/C++).
Technical Background
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechatronics Engineering.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical and firmware specifically in rapid prototyping workflows, embedded firmware and PCB design.
- Experience generating engineering documentation (schematics, BOMs, mechanical drawings, test plans, customer facing documentation).
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
Communication & Customer Focus
- Clear, concise English communication, both written and verbal.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-follow integration guides and presentations.
- Willingness to travel (when required) for on-site customer support or industry events.
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, hand tools, lathes, mills, CNC.
Nice to Have
- Personal or side projects demonstrating creativity in electronics, robotics, or IoT.
- Experience with haptic or sensor integration in consumer electronics.
- Hobbyist skills in 3D printing, electronics, programming, machining.
- Knowledge of embedded firmware debugging tools.
- Passion for gaming, AR/VR, or emerging consumer tech trends.
- Fluency in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean for liaison with Asia-based partners.
- Problem Solver: Quickly analyzes issues, explores root causes, and implements practical solutions.
- Resourceful: Seeks out new tools, resources, or contacts when standard approaches fall short.
- Self‑Starter: Takes initiative on tasks, manages time effectively, and drives projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative: Thrives in a small, cross-functional team; values open sharing of ideas and feedback.
- Adaptable: Comfortable switching between mechanical design, electronics, and firmware debugging as priorities shift.
Location & Work Model
- Primary Location: Mississauga, Ontario
- Flexible work schedule, focus on deliverables and outcomes rather than clocking hours.
- Full-Time: CAD 60,000 - 70,000 per year + Employee Stock Options
- Flexible hours and vacation policy, trust in your ownership of deliverables
- Opportunity to shape hardware reference designs that will be used by leading OEMs
Why This Role Matters
