Responsibilities
Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform the necessary repairs, including repairing engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, and replacing parts and components as required
Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs the first time by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as required
Ensure that customer vehicles are kept clean during the repair process
Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options for repairs as required
Communicate with service advisor and/or dispatcher if additional work is needed
Aid service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, interact with the customer, or otherwise guarantee customer satisfaction
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts and supplies
Maintain a clean, effective work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized
Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with standard operating procedures
Understand terminology of the automobile business and stay abreast of technology changes in the product
Follow all attendance and punctuality standards and timekeeping requirements, recording the beginning and ending times of any shift, break, or departure from work
Follow the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
Follow all work rules and directions from supervisors
Uphold the company’s non‑disclosure and confidentiality policies
Maintain a qualified appearance in accordance with company policy
Attend pertinent training on request
Attend company meetings as required
Requirements
High school diploma or the equivalent GED
Possess a provincial license such as Red Seal or 310T, in good standing with membership or registration with relevant government agencies; specialized training and experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials) is preferred, as is OEM training
