About the Team The Ministry of Social Services supports vulnerable people and families as they build a better quality of life.
We help people with their immediate needs and provide supports for: families to safely care for their children, children and youth in care to be successful, people with disabilities to access community-based services, access to affordable housing, and income assistance to meet people's basic needs as they work to become self-sufficient to the best of their abilities.

ABOUT THE JOB The Opportunity
We are looking for dynamic individuals who are devoted to helping others and improving the lives and well-being of children and families to join our team as Child and Caregiver Support Workers to fill Term positions in the Regina office and area.
In this position, you will provide a range of services designed to provide protective, preventative, and support services to children and their families using the P.R.I.D.E. model and the Family Centered Case Management Model of practice.
You will also:
Develop and maintain open, honest working relationships and encourage teamwork with clients, foster families, biological families, collateral agencies, and colleagues within the unit and community.
Identify,
and prioritize referrals for service, develop appropriate intervention plans, consult with professionals as needed, and complete documentation in accordance with professional practice standards.
Apply knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, with particular emphasis on First Nations and Métis perspectives.
Apply understanding of poverty, systemic barriers, and socio-economic issues and their impact on individuals and families.
Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to services and resources, remove barriers to independence, and promote overall well‑being.
Responsibilities Assesses and determine suitability and approval of caregivers through interviews of applicants, their children, reference checks and applicable screening criteria.
Counsels approved caregivers regarding suitability of placements and specific needs of children in care.
Provides assessment, counselling and appropriate referral services to foster/adoptive parents, and extended family.
Monitoring services being provided by support, community and/or other monitoring agencies.
Establishes long term plans and goals for caregivers who are caring for Wards of the Minister.
Composes extensive written documentation for purposes of recording caregiver history, case management, and ensuring caregivers meet and maintain caregiver standards.
Maintains contact with caregivers regarding all matters relating to their home and children in care; including safety and emotional needs, ensuring financial maintenance, resolving problems by mediating, teaching problem resolution skills, and enhancing parenting techniques.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
To qualify for this position, you will possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree from an accredited university, as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE; OR a Human Service Degree plus relevant related experience; OR a Social Work Certificate plus relevant related experience. All out-of-country education must be accredited for Canadian equivalency.
Human Service Degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and/or Psychology, Education, Human Justice, or Indigenous Studies or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Psychiatric Nursing plus relevant related work experience.
