The candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, utilizing computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

The candidate must maintain a professional demeanour in customer service.

The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.

The candidate must load and unload goods.

The candidate must obtain special permits and other documents required for international cargo transport.

The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.

The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.

The candidate must perform brake adjustments.

The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs.

The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections,



as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.

The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.

The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.

The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.

Job Requirements

The candidate should be fluent in the English language.

The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.

A candidate with experience is an asset.

The candidate must hold an AZ class license, an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Certification and a valid Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).

The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

The candidate should have productive interpersonal skills.

The candidate should be organized and flexible.

The candidate should have good judgmental skills.

The candidate should be reliable.

The candidate should be a good team player.

The candidate must be hardworking.

Experience and specialization
Documentation knowledge

The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports and trip reports.

The candidate will be responsible for operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.

Transportation/travel experience

The candidate must have experience with transportation and travel across international, national, and provincial or territorial levels.

The candidate must have experience with both long-haul and short-haul travel.

The candidate must obtain basic security clearance and will be subject to a driver’s licence validity check.
