Job Overview
The Estimator Scheduler is responsible for preparing detailed estimates for medium to large construction and supply projects. The Estimator collaborates with the Director of Business Development, Western Canada, to develop project scopes, manage proposals through negotiation, and ensure Operations has a clear understanding of project requirements upon award. The incumbent works closely with managers across each operational division in Western Canada to coordinate production requirements and develop the master production plan. The incumbent is also responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying effective inventory.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates, bid take-offs, pricing, project schedules, and supporting documentation.

Manage requests from initial inquiry through proposal, negotiation, revision, and award, ensuring timely customer communication and follow-up

Support change orders, claims, and contract negotiations through cost and schedule impact analysis.

Collaborate with Operations and Project Management to ensure estimates and project plans are realistic, achievable, and aligned with operational requirements.

Assess job conditions, work methods, durations, labour, and equipment requirements to support accurate estimating.

Develop and maintain project and portfolio schedules, including critical paths, milestones, constraints, and key deadlines.

Coordinate labour, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to optimize resource allocation and project delivery.

Forecast resource requirements, utilization,



and capacity, identifying and addressing potential constraints.

Prepare look-ahead schedules, manpower and equipment forecasts, and schedule status reports.

Maintain consistent estimating, purchasing, planning, and scheduling processes and ensure effective use of company systems and software.

Develop project budgets and cash flow projections and communicate key financial assumptions to Operations following project award.

Negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing and identify opportunities for competitive and project-specific pricing.

Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual planning, scheduling, utilization, and forecasting reports.

Provide senior leadership with updates on project risks, resource requirements, capacity, and estimating performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum 1 year industry experience in project and/or scheduling function

Experience estimating in the construction industry is an asset.

Relevant experience in utility construction is an asset. (Power, Water, Fiber, Gas, etc.)

PMP or equivalent project management work experience in complex and sophisticated projects

High School Diploma or equivalent is required

Post-secondary education in a related discipline;

A bachelor’s degree is an asset
