AVI Health & Community Services is seeking a dedicated SAFER Support Worker to engage with participants in a community-focused, harm reduction environment. Use your lived experience to build trust and promote safer drug practices.
This role is essential for supporting the SAFER program within a busy Safe Supply Clinic. Under the guidance of the Clinic Care Manager, you will establish meaningful connections with participants, offering peer support and ensuring a respectful space. Your skills in harm reduction and ability to communicate effectively will be pivotal to the program's success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the SAFER team to identify potential participants
• Welcome and support participants in program spaces
• Distribute harm reduction supplies and train on their use
• Monitor substance use and respond to emergencies
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in program areas
Requirements:
• Lived experience with criminalized drug use
• Minimum two years in direct harm reduction services
• First aid training required
• Understanding of confidentiality and boundaries
• Ability to navigate high-stress situations
