The City of Swift Current is accepting applications for non-permanent, casual Lifeguard/Instructor 1 positions in the Aquatics Department. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Aquatics, the Lifeguard/Instructor, I is responsible for delivering swimming instruction, supervising public activities in and around the pool areas, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and facility regulations. Key duties include performing rescues, administering first aid and artificial respiration, engaging in public relations, and assisting with general pool maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of operational guidelines, policies and procedures specific to aquatic facilities.
Proficiency in maintaining accurate and legible written records.
Robust interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, management and the public.
Ability to understand and accurately execute verbal and written instructions.
Commitment to maintain good physical fitness through regular practice and participation in in-service training programs.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required for operational needs.
Required Qualifications
National Lifeguard Award
Lifesaving Instructor Award
SWIM Instructor
Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
WHMIS
Physical condition must allow performance of strenuous swimming and lifesaving tasks
There will be a facility physical testing requirement
Completion of Respect Group Training and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon hire.
The starting hourly rate of pay for this position is $23.51 in accordance with the current City of Swift Current - CUPE 183 Collective Agreement.
