Business Intelligence Analyst Contract

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of executive-facing reporting, semantic models, and analytics solutions that support strategic planning, operational management, and technology decision‑making. This role requires deep hands‑on expertise in Power BI, data modeling, analytics engineering, automation, and data visualization. The successful candidate will own enterprise‑scale semantic models, governance standards, executive dashboards, and support an existing R/Shiny web application.
Key Responsibilities Analytics & Visualization Own the architecture, development, and maintenance of enterprise Power BI semantic models, including scalable star schemas, relationships, and calculation groups that serve as a single source of truth across reporting solutions.
Design and deliver executive‑level dashboards, reports, and self‑service analytics tools.
Develop and maintain advanced DAX measures, custom calculations, KPIs, and time intelligence logic.
Administer and govern the Power BI environment, including workspace management, deployment pipelines, row‑level security (RLS), and capacity management.
Establish best practices and standards for semantic modeling, visualization design, data governance, and report performance optimization.
Modernize and automate manual reporting processes through scalable analytical solutions.
Translate complex and ambiguous business questions into actionable analytical frameworks and reporting outcomes.
Data Architecture & Engineering Design and maintain data models and integration patterns supporting semantic models and reporting layers.
Develop and manage data pipelines that integrate multiple data sources while maintaining consistent business definitions and reusable metrics.
Collaborate within the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Azure, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric, to optimize reporting data sources.
Partner with engineering teams to build custom views, enhance data accessibility,



and support semantic modeling requirements.
Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues impacting business reporting and executive KPIs.
Application Development Support the maintenance and enhancement of an existing R/Shiny web application, including bug fixes, feature enhancements, and data integration activities.
Collaborate with development teams on larger application improvements and architectural updates.
Apply source control, documentation, and development best practices using Git.
Automation & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to automate operational and reporting workflows.
Develop automation solutions using Python, Power Platform, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Teams, and related technologies.
Conduct process mapping exercises to evaluate workflow inefficiencies and implement automation solutions.
Measure and communicate automation impact through efficiency gains, time savings, quality improvements, and business outcomes.
Applied AI & Data Science Design and implement AI-powered solutions that improve business processes and decision‑making.
Support user adoption through training, documentation, and change management activities.
Apply machine learning techniques such as forecasting, clustering, anomaly detection, and segmentation where appropriate.
Integrate AI capabilities into analytics and automation solutions while adhering to responsible AI and data governance standards.
Required Qualifications Extensive hands‑on experience with Power BI, including:Semantic modeling
Advanced DAX development
Power BI administration
Row-Level Security (RLS)
Enterprise reporting and dashboard delivery
Strong proficiency in:SQLDAXPython




Experience working with Microsoft data platforms, including:AzureDatabricksMicrosoft Fabric
Working knowledge of R and Shiny, with the ability to maintain and enhance existing applications.
Experience building and deploying AI-enabled workflow and automation solutions.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration, and data quality management across multiple source systems.
Experience designing scalable data models and reporting ecosystems.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and drive outcomes with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting executive and senior leadership reporting.
Experience with Power Platform technologies including Power Automate and Copilot Studio.
Knowledge of machine learning and advanced analytics techniques.
Experience implementing enterprise data governance and reporting standards.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional project environments.
