Cape Breton University seeks a dedicated L’nu Health Lead for Unama’ki College. This full time position focuses on reducing health inequities and improving outcomes for L’nu communities in Nova Scotia.
This role requires collaboration with Elders and community members to incorporate Indigenous ways into health promotion. The successful candidate will work closely with Mi’kmaq Indigenous Nurse Educator Specialists and engage L’nu communities in health initiatives. Your leadership will support health education, recruitment of Mi’kmaw health professionals, and the development of community capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage with Elders and community members for successful initiatives
• Implement research projects blending L’nu knowledge and health promotion
• Recruit Mi’kmaw health students for professional programs
• Collaborate with MINES on health initiatives
• Report annually on the progress of initiatives
Requirements:
• L’nu descent with strong ties to a L’nu community
• Expertise in health and L’nu cultural competencies
• Minimum undergraduate degree in Health Science
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Interest in supporting health research and community health
Lead vital health initiatives and support improved health outcomes for L’nu citizens in Nova Scotia through your expertise.
