ASSISTANTDIRECTOR OF CARE,TENDERCARE LIVING CENTRE
Candidates are invited to apply for the above full time position to work atTendercareLiving Centre,a204 bedLong-Term care home, managed by Extendicare Assist,locatedin Scarborough, Ontario.
Mission:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of care (ADOC) is a highly skilledleader who contributes to Extendicare’s purpose of Helping People Live Better by supportingand leading a high-performing team dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, andcompassionate care to all residents. Under the direction of the Director of Care, the ADOC leads and provides oversight forassigned clinical areas as per Extendicare’s model of care and collaborates with othermembers of the care team to ensure exceptional resident centered care and best practicesare consistent with Extendicare, Accreditation standards, and all regulations. The ADOC will engage with residents and families and promote a customer servicephilosophy to continuously improve resident satisfaction and achieve our mission to providepeople with the care they need, wherever they call home.
Key Outcomes
Serve as a strong advocate for resident safety and ongoing improvement of quality care.
Attainhigh resident and family engagement as measured through Experience Surveyresults, by caring for each person as we would our own family.
Consistently meet or exceed all quality and clinical indicators for residents, in alignmentwith organizational and legislative guidelines, through the effective execution of requiredclinical programs.
Foster a positive culture of employee experience, driving an increase in overall employeeengagement compared to the previous year.
Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements on quality and clinical programs, as wellas organizational and Accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Director of Care:
Manage- Manage assigned program areas as per Extendicare’s Model of Care, ensuringeffective implementation and performance of the programs in compliance with legislative and professional standards.
Identify- Risk and mitigation strategies and upscale andmanage asappropriateincollaboration with organizational teams and departments.
Comply- Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulations, licensing requirements,accreditation standards andlabourand employment standards, including timelyinvestigations and consistent action planning.
Collaborate- Activelyparticipateand collaborate with the Director of Care, interdisciplinary team, and consult with care staff,residentsand families to deliver andoptimize resident care.
Quality- Lead in the development, implementation, and oversight of quality improvementinitiatives within the home to achieve successful outcomes and meet established goals.
Community Partnership- Engage with vendors on quality initiatives and trainingrequirements and collaborate with community health partners for the betterment ofresident care.
Cultivate- Foster professional growth and engagement of team members throughmentorship, training,
and development initiatives to enhance team performance inpartnership with DOC to build a strong organizational culture. This includes identifyingskill gaps, providing coaching andfeedback,and encouraging continuous learning.

Customer Service- Through employing the customer service mindset, accept and respond tofeedback (complaints, recognition or suggestions) from residents, families, vendors and team members with acknowledgement and empathy.
Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as Registered nurse in the long-termcare sector, plus, preference of three (3) years, minimum of one (1) of experience in amanagerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting.
Current and unrestricted registration/licensing and practice as a Registered Nurse with theapplicable Provincial licensing body.
Bachelor of Nursing preferred or Post-secondary Diploma in Nursing.
Current CPR certification isrequired.
Demonstratedleadership, communicationskillsand interpersonal skills.
Experience in the use of EHR systems, specifically Point Click Care and Point of Care.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven history of leading quality improvement initiatives and achieving positive residentoutcomes.
Demonstratedteam building and time management skills.
Strong Clinical skills.
Proficiencyin a second language is considered an asset.
Experience working in a unionized environment and managing under a collectiveagreement.
