TalentReach is hiring on behalf of a growing healthcare technology company seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to guide the technical direction of a cross-functional engineering team while remaining actively involved in software development. This role combines hands‑on engineering with people leadership, helping build scalable platforms that enable internal teams to deliver high‑quality software more efficiently.

This is a remote position based on the East Coast of Canada.

Role
As an Engineering Lead, you will lead a cross‑functional Scrum team responsible for building and enhancing platform capabilities that accelerate product development across the organization. You will partner closely with Product Management, mentor engineers, drive technical decisions, and continuously improve engineering processes while contributing directly to the codebase.

What You'll Do

Lead a cross‑functional engineering team responsible for platform initiatives that support product development across the organization

Design, build, and enhance scalable backend and frontend applications

Partner closely with Product Management to define technical solutions and deliver iterative product improvements

Develop and maintain modern web applications using Node.js, Python, React, and related technologies

Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services

Optimize relational database architecture, performance, and scalability

Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and other business teams to identify opportunities for improvement

Participate in sprint planning, technical design, estimation, and Agile development processes





Conduct code reviews and promote high standards for software quality and maintainability

Mentor engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and regular one‑on‑one meetings

Identify technical risks, process improvements, and operational efficiencies while driving continuous improvement across the engineering organization

Help establish engineering standards, development best practices, and scalable delivery processes

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role

Proven experience leading Agile or Scrum engineering teams while maintaining hands‑on technical responsibilities

Solid experience with Node.js and/or Python

Advanced knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript

Experience building modern frontend applications using React and state management libraries

Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs

Experience working with AWS cloud services including containerized application deployment

Experience with Docker, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines

Strong experience with relational databases including MySQL, MariaDB, or similar technologies

Experience working with Redis or other caching technologies

Strong understanding of Git, version control workflows, and collaborative software development

Experience building and supporting large‑scale web applications

Solid understanding of Linux‑based operating systems

Knowledge of secure software development and web application security best practices

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non‑technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in healthcare technology, insurance technology, or other highly regulated industries

Experience supporting engineering platform or developer productivity initiatives

Experience improving engineering processes and delivery effectiveness across multiple teams

Strong background mentoring engineers and developing technical leaders

Experience working within fast‑paced startup or growth‑stage environments
