The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are achieved. This role oversees production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong focus on optics, electronics assembly, continuous improvement, and customer compliance standards including IPC and/or NASA requirements.
You will be reporting to Sr Material Management Manager and you'll work onsite at Cambridge, ON.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical manufacturing knowledge, excellent people leadership skills, and experience driving operational excellence through Lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Operations
Supervise daily production activities to meet schedule attainment and customer delivery requirements
Monitor throughput, labor utilization, efficiency, and productivity metrics
Coordinate staffing and workflow to support changing production demands
Support build planning, line balancing, and capacity alignment
Drive plan vs. actual performance tracking and corrective actions
Ensure adherence to quality standards and manufacturing procedures
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop production employees and team leads
Identify and train the Supervisor Successor of 'tomorrow'
Conduct performance reviews, training, and employee development plans
Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture
Support conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives
Ensure compliance with company policies and health & safety standards
Quality & Technical Oversight
Support production of electronic and/or optical assemblies
Ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer specifications
Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Maintain documentation and traceability requirements for regulated manufacturing environments
Continuous Improvement
Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives and 5S activities
Identify opportunities for waste reduction and process optimization
Lead continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery,
and cost
Support visual management and KPI tracking on the production floor
Site Training Supervisor
Ensure compliance with IPC standards through the sites Certification Training Plan, including the skills Matrix
Manage IPC trainers/training certifications and arrange onsite re-certifications
Manage any new training opportunities ie NASA certs
MUST HAVE
Diploma or Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or related technical field.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in an operations or a clean room production laboratory environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience working with IPC standards and/or NASA quality requirements.
WE VALUE
Experience in electronics and/or optics manufacturing preferred
Experience with high-mix, low-volume or regulated production environments considered an asset Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes
Understanding of optical assembly and inspection processes preferred
Familiarity with: IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ESD controls, Quality systems and Traceability requirements
Ability to read technical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
ERP/MRP system experience preferred
Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Experience leading cross-functional teams
Preferred Certifications & Training
Lean Manufacturing Certification
5S Training / Certification
IPC Certification (IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001)
NASA workmanship standards experience
Supervisory or Management Courses
Continuous Improvement / Six Sigma training considered an asset
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,100 to $100,000 in Cambridge, Ontario. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
