Are you passionate about environmental consulting and looking to grow your career with a team-oriented and experienced team? We're seeking a Junior / Intermediate Environmental Consultant to support a variety of environmental and waste management projects across Manitoba.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on field experience while building your technical and project management skills. You'll work alongside Project Managers, Professional Engineers, senior technical advisors, clients, and regulatory agencies on projects that make a positive impact on communities throughout the province.
This is a hybrid position based in Brandon, Manitoba, offering flexibility between office and remote work, with regular travel to project sites across Manitoba.
What You'll Do
As a Junior Environmental Consultant , you'll support environmental and municipal infrastructure projects by:
Project Coordination
Assist with planning and coordinating environmental and waste management projects.
Help manage schedules, budgets, project documentation, and deliverables.
Maintain organized project records throughout the project lifecycle.
Support procurement, tender administration, and contract documentation.
Technical Consulting
Participate in landfill, transfer station, environmental site assessment (ESA), leachate management, construction, and feasibility projects.
Prepare technical reports, proposals, environmental assessments, regulatory submissions, and cost estimates.
Assist with engineering evaluations and technical analysis.
Contribute practical recommendations and solutions for clients.
Field Work & Environmental Monitoring
Conduct site inspections,
environmental investigations, and sampling programs.
Perform construction and environmental monitoring.
Collect soil, groundwater, and environmental samples.
Maintain accurate field notes and documentation while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Client & Regulatory Support
Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
Assist with regulatory approvals and environmental compliance requirements.
Participate in client meetings and provide project updates.
Health & Safety
Follow all company safety policies and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
Travel safely to project sites throughout Manitoba.
Complete office and field assignments while maintaining accurate administrative records.
What We're Looking For
Education
Diploma or Degree in: Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience
You’ll stand out if you have experience in:
Construction or environmental services
Technical report writing
Environmental investigations, inspections, or monitoring
Experience with municipal waste management systems is considered an asset.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization and time management
High attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
Willingness to travel throughout Manitoba
Comfortable working outdoors during seasonal field work
Assets
The following qualifications are considered strong assets:
Experience with Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
Knowledge of Manitoba environmental regulations
Experience with landfills, transfer stations, or municipal waste facilities
Municipal tendering, procurement, and contract administration experience
Knowledge of contaminated sites, hydrogeology, drilling programs, excavation monitoring, groundwater investigations, and soil sampling
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, surveying, or similar software
