Lead transformative Indigenous education at Red Deer Polytechnic. As the Dean of Indigenous Initiatives, you'll shape programs and policies prioritizing Indigenous epistemologies and student success.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Experience, the Dean plays a crucial role in implementing the RDP Indigenization strategy. Your leadership will influence the integration of Indigenous knowledge throughout curriculum and support services, contributing to decolonization and reconciliation efforts. You will collaborate with various stakeholders and community members to foster a welcoming academic workplace for Indigenous students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set the strategic vision for Indigenous education at RDP
• Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities
• Oversee the Indigenous Services department and initiatives
• Coordinate and implement the Indigenous Strategic Plan
• Advocate for continuous improvement in services and accessibility
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Indigenous Studies or related field
• 3-5 years in operational leadership in a post-secondary setting
• Knowledge of Indigenous recruitment and retention strategies
• Familiarity with Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
