The Food Services Coordinator works alongside the Food Services Director to lead the kitchen at Camp Pine Crest, supporting and guiding the Food Services Team in preparing meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and delivering exceptional service to clients and guests. The role ensures strict adherence to health and safety procedures while fostering collaboration and a positive environment among staff and program teams. It requires the ability to stand for extended periods, work long days, and participate in the communal living environment of the centre.

In this role, you will:

Collaborate with the Food Services Director and team to plan, prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks for Outdoor Centre groups while ensuring food quality, presentation, and timely service meet high standards

Act as shift lead and designated supervisor in the absence of the Food Services Director

Provide coaching, support, and guidance to food services team members

Liaise with the Outdoor Centre Director and program team to meet group expectations

Deliver friendly, prompt, and professional service to all clients, guests, and staff

Assist with dishwashing and kitchen maintenance as needed

Follow and enforce health and safety procedures

Share responsibility for keeping camp facilities clean, organized, and safe

Complete kitchen-related administration tasks accurately and on time, including inventory, cleaning checklists, and incident reports

Support documentation for performance appraisals and other delegated tasks

Attend and actively participate in all staff training and meetings

Role model YMCA values, Pine Crest guiding principles,



and Ontario Camps Association guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:

Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification and a valid Food Handler Certificate required for the duration of the contract

Minimum 1 year of experience supervising staff and 2 years of experience cooking in an institutional kitchen

HACCP training and experience working with food allergies and dietary restrictions

Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers

Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve optimal results

Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both new and experienced staff

Skilled in delivering timely, professional, and constructive feedback

Able to participate actively in a team for organizational effectiveness

Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
