Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at South Campus, Edmonton.
The Recreation Facility Operator I is one of several full-time and approx. 4-6 casual staff reporting to the RFO Supervisor, Saville East/Foote Field. The Operator is responsible for the daily operation of Saville Community Sports Centre, Foote Field and the Saville Tennis Centre, including curling ice, tennis courts and sports fields. The Operator supports the secure, efficient and positive use of sport and recreation facilities managed by CCR. The Operator creates positive client experiences by interacting with clients as they monitor facility access and liaise with event supervisors, and by monitoring the safety and cleanliness of the facility during routine and regular facility inspections. The Operator creates a “presence” in the facility through highly visible facility monitoring.
The key job functions include ice preparation and maintenance, tennis court maintenance, general facility monitoring and maintenance, and event set-up and take-down. The Operator's daily activities include facility opening/closing (securing)
procedures; equipment set up and take down; ice-preparation and maintenance, field maintenance, laundry service; operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, client interactions and casual staff coordination and leadership in accordance with the facility policies and procedures.
In addition, the RFO I will be assigned duties and coordination responsibilities in several task areas including hazard assessment, facility inspections, asset management, incident reporting and data collection and facility specific operational duties (fields, curling ice and dome operations). The Operator may be assigned the role of Supervisor on Duty on some shifts, requiring the Operator to interact with all staff within the facility, take a lead role in emergency management, safety and security of the building and assist in the resolution of conflicts that may arise. The fulfillment of these tasks is critical to the seamless operation of the building for safe, effective service to facility users. The RFO Supervisor may assign a greater number of duties in any area based on operational need. The Operator may be scheduled for standby shifts to support risk management of facility operations.
This position requires the ability to work a variable work schedule spanning 7 days a week in a rotating capacity working days, evenings and weekends.
