About Us:
The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families. Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

The Role:
The Opportunity: Executive Director/General Manager

We are seeking a dynamic Executive Director/General Manager to lead our Wentworth Manor site in Calgary with purpose, integrity, and heart.
The Executive Director/General Manager is the senior site leader responsible for the overall success of operations, team development, resident experience, and community engagement. This individual will drive strategic growth, cultivate a high-performance culture,
and ensure that every person who lives and works at Wentworth Manor experiences excellence, safety, and belonging.
Please note that the Executive Director title will be converted to General Manager as part of an upcoming organizational transition.
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and resident-first care.
Align site performance with BSF’s strategic direction and organizational goals.
Operations & Program Delivery
Oversee daily operations across all departments (care, hospitality, maintenance, dining, administration).
Lead program development and ensure quality standards and compliance are consistently met.
People Leadership & Team Engagement
Inspire, mentor, and support a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Promote a culture of collaboration, trust, and psychological safety.
Lead performance development, coaching, and accountability practices.
Financial & Business Management
Manage operating budgets, identify efficiencies, and ensure financial sustainability.
Lead and support new projects and initiatives that drive innovation and resident satisfaction.
Community & Stakeholder Relations
Foster strong partnerships with families, Alberta Health Services, local stakeholders, and community leaders.
Serve as the face of BSF within the local community.

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Health Services, or related field required.
Registered Nurse (RN) or other professional clinical designation is a solid asset.
Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with proven ability to manage large facilities.
Experience in the seniors’ care or healthcare sector is highly desirable.
Demonstrated success in people leadership, budgeting, quality improvement, and change management.
Criminal Records Check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination (min. 2 doses) required.

Wage rate/Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
