The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Arena Operator in the Community Services Division.This is a full-time, permanent, in-scope position under the current City of Swift Current Collective Agreement with CUPE 183.
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this employee will be responsible for performing tasks involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the InnovationPlex and S3 Arenas as well as other facilities operated by the Community Services Department. This will include building care and maintenance, equipment maintenance and janitorial duties of a routine but varied nature in accordance with well-defined procedures, standards and techniques. Other responsibilities will include ice making and ice maintenance, utilizing the ice resurfacing machine and related equipment. This employee is also involved with the public, which requires considerable display of tact and courtesy.
This position will involve weekend and holiday work, and diverse shifts of 8-, 10- and 12-hours to meet operational requirements. During the summer months, this employee may be assigned to other duties within the Community Services Department.
Required Qualifications Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)



Certificate
Ability and willingness to become Respect Certified
Ability to operate a computer and effectively use email, Microsoft Office, and Xplor Recreation software.
Ability to operate ice resurfacing machines and other maintenance equipment with due care and attention.
Ability to use simple hand tools and basic power equipment required for building and grounds maintenance.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and possess initiative with respect to duties and responsibilities.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public, contractors and other City employees in person or over the phone.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Desirable Qualifications Building Maintenance Level 1
First Aid / CPR C / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certificate
The starting salary for this position is $26.66 per hour. This position is eligible for shift differential pay of $2.00 per hour for scheduled work performed between 4:30 p.m. one day and 7:30 a.m. the following day.
