Job Description
The Clinical Support Nurse is a highly visible and responsive member of the site-wide Code Blue/Outreach team who will assist in providing the critical care interventions required to manage patients with deteriorating conditions ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex. This position will support the stabilization and provide nursing care and monitoring until the patient is received into the appropriate care location. The incumbent also acts a mentor to patients, nursing staff and/or preceptor to learners while demonstrating a caring approach, and understanding of the nursing process, a conceptual model of practice, and the philosophy, objectives and standards of the SHA.

Experience





3 years experience as an RN in an emergency or critical care environment

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Other Education and Training

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)

Nursing diploma is acceptable

Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Self motivated with the ability to work independently

Competent in hemodynamic monitoring

Initiate, monitor, and titrate critical care medications

Initiate and maintain advanced lines

Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making

Ability to work collegially, collaboratively and build positive relationships

Ability to perform 12 lead ECGs

Ability to work in a cooperative and consultative manner

Ability to identify lethal dysrhythmias

Communication skills to transfer knowledge/skills

Manage advanced airways and provide ventilatory support
