Job Overview
Project Buyer IV (Electrical) is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities in support of large-scale capital projects. This role serves as a strategic partner to project teams by leading sourcing initiatives, ensuring compliance with procurement governance requirements, and securing critical materials and services needed to support project execution. The successful candidate will oversee competitive bidding processes, contract negotiations, purchase order issuance, supplier management, and procurement planning while mitigating risks and supporting project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing activities for complex, high-value, and long lead-time electrical equipment and service contracts supporting large capital projects.
Assess market conditions and identify opportunities for early supplier engagement to secure capacity and meet project in-service dates.
Collaborate with Supply Chain Management (SCM) Business Partners, Category Managers, and client project teams to develop sourcing and procurement strategies.
Manage the full sourcing lifecycle, including RFx development, proposal solicitation, bid evaluations, technical and commercial clarifications, negotiations, and contract execution.
Prepare and maintain procurement plans, forecasts, reports, and status updates for project stakeholders.
Identify procurement risks and contribute to the development and implementation of mitigation strategies.
Partner with internal stakeholders, including Governance, Quality,
Legal, and Expediting teams, to ensure project deliverables and procurement objectives are achieved.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with SCM policies, procedures, and enterprise governance requirements.
Negotiate commercial agreements and contract terms while balancing business objectives and risk management considerations.
Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance to support project success.
Create and manage purchase orders within enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Provide procurement expertise and guidance to project teams on commercial and contractual matters.
Qualifications
University degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience procuring complex electrical equipment for large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
Solid knowledge of RFx development, sourcing processes, contract preparation, and contract management.
Proven experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and contracts.
Ability to communicate contractual deviations, commercial risks, and alternative solutions to business stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to independently manage supplier relationships and performance.
Experience using ERP systems for purchase order creation and management, preferably Oracle R12 or Oracle Cloud.
Preferred Qualifications
Ten (10) or more years of procurement experience within the power, electrical transmission, liquids, or natural gas energy industries.
Postgraduate degree or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or equivalent professional designation.
Working Conditions
Typical office environment.
