Description Our client, an established Canadian property and casualty insurer, is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Underwriter to join its Northern Alberta team in Edmonton, Alberta .
Reporting to the Personal Lines Underwriting Manager, this full-time position will play an important role in building and maintaining a profitable, growing portfolio of personal lines business. The successful candidate will use strong underwriting judgment, technical knowledge, and broker relationships to assess risks, provide responsive service, and support profitable growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced underwriter who enjoys working collaboratively with brokers and internal teams while contributing to the success of a well-established organization.
What You’ll Do Evaluate and analyze quote requests to determine risk acceptability, appropriate policy terms, and rates for recent business.
Review and process renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
Analyze broker production reports and portfolio performance.
Provide underwriting guidance and respond to broker inquiries.
Work closely with claims and accounting teams on shared concerns and issues.
Visit broker partners to communicate underwriting approaches, strengthen relationships, and help resolve problems.
Conduct broker audits and reviews as required.
Attend industry functions and represent the organization within the insurance community.
Perform other underwriting-related duties as required.
What You’ll Bring A minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience .
Strong knowledge and understanding of personal automobile and property insurance contracts .
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management abilities.
Proven auditing and review capabilities.
The ability to maintain established service standards while providing exceptional customer service.
A CIP or FCIP designation , or progress toward one, would be considered an asset.
