As the Counsel for Claims Litigation, you will independently manage a diverse portfolio, ranging from property damage to commercial liability claims. This position suits lawyers licensed in Alberta with at least two years of civil litigation experience, particularly in insurance. You'll collaborate with stakeholders and external experts while developing litigation strategies and advising on complex claims matters.
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently manage tort litigation files from start to finish
• Prepare court documents and conduct out-of-court examinations
• Negotiate settlements and draft necessary legal documents
• Collaborate with internal teams on litigation strategies
• Act as an advisor on claims-related legal matters
Requirements:
• Law Degree from accredited law school (LLB or JD)
• Licensed to practice in Alberta with 2+ years of experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure
Lead litigation efforts and provide strategic legal advice as part of Definity's claims team.
