The Co-operators seeks a Counsel for its P&C; Litigation team to manage lower to moderate complexity cases. You'll provide legal advice, support senior counsel, and engage in training for claims personnel. Your cutting-edge mindset and critical thinking will help enhance operational efficiencies and effectively address client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle all aspects of claims litigation from referral to resolution
• Collaborate with Claims team on legal assessments and opinions
• Attend mediations, trials, and other necessary legal proceedings
• Provide general legal advice on varied business facets
• Recommend process improvements to mitigate legal exposure
Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years in insurance defense or personal injury
• Law Degree (LLB, JD) and Ontario lawyer qualification
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Experience with trial or arbitration is a plus
• Valid driver's license and own vehicle required
