The primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include assisting the Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, notes and schedules for the Centre and its subsidiaries for both management and external audit purposes within strict deadlines, including management reporting.

The Senior Accountant must have clear communication skills to work within the team and meet all stated deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support full-cycle accounting activities, including the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, while ensuring appropriate accounting treatment of complex, unusual, and non-routine transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Controller review, ensuring timely identification and resolution of reconciling items.
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes,



ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines and internal controls.
Support the Controller in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, schedules, and analysis.
Monitor and maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting best practices.
Accounts Payable
Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable functions, ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
Set up, maintain, and periodically review vendor master data within the accounting system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Process Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments and manage vendor EFT enrollment and maintenance.
Reconcile corporate credit card statements, investigate discrepancies, and administer the company credit card program.
Monitor accounts payable aging and support cash flow management through timely payment processing and reporting.
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Management
Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, customer account maintenance, and cash application.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate billing discrepancies as required.
Track and record donations received through Raiser's Edge and ensure proper reconciliation to the general ledger.
Taxation, Grants & Compliance
Prepare GST rebate filings and supporting documentation for Controller review.
Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory, statutory, and financial reporting requirements.
Audit
Support the preparation of annual financial statements and audit-related disclosures; assisting with audit requests.
Payroll & Human Resources Administration
Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable payroll legislation and organizational policies.
Administer RRSP and TFSA contributions and perform related reconciliations.
Prepare payroll-related remittances, T4s, year-end payroll reporting,



and supporting reconciliations.
Ensure employee records are securely maintained and retained in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
Support Human Resources administration by maintaining employee files and ensuring all position descriptions are current and up to date.
Assist with benefits administration, employee onboarding/offboarding processes, and related payroll adjustments.
Education & Experience
A college or university diploma/degree majoring in finance or accounting.
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience full-cycle accounting experience.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
Strong understanding of month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Experience in nonprofitfinancial managementor regulatory compliance, including charity reporting, isa robust asset.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability toidentifyfinancial issues, conduct data analysis, and implement effective, practical solutions.
High attention to detail and accuracy in bank reconciliation, JEs, budgeting, and compliance activities, ensuring all work meets regulatory standards.
Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple financial projects simultaneously.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct), payroll and expense management systems (Nexonia), and Microsoft Excel, with a readiness to learn and adapt to new financial tools as needed.
Demonstrates a proactive and hands-on approach tofinancial management, taking initiative to address challenges and improve processes for accuracy and efficiency.
Exhibitsa strong senseof accountability, ensuring all financial responsibilities are completed with integrity, precision, and adherence to deadlines.
