The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia
British Columbia
Lead the team that protects the public trust in British Columbia's notarial profession
About the Society
The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia (SNPBC) is the governing body responsible for the licensing and regulation of Notaries Public in British Columbia. Guided by the Notaries Act, the Society sets and enforces the standards of competence and conduct that protect the public interest and maintain confidence in the notarial profession.
The Opportunity
The Associate Director, Investigations & Discipline leads the Society's Complaints and Discipline department, overseeing the complaints and discipline process and the member trust audit program — the core of the Society's public protection mandate. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Discipline Committee, the Audit Committee, and senior management, you will bring sound judgment, strong analytical and communication skills, and genuine care for fair and consistent regulatory process to some of the Society's most sensitive and consequential work.
This is a role for someone who wants regulatory work with real impact — leading a team, shaping policy and practice, and representing the Society at hearings and before its committees and directors.

Leadership

Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director and Board committees on public protection and compliance
Contribute to the ongoing development of discipline and audit policy
What You Bring
A law degree, or a related degree with equivalent experience in qualified regulation, discipline, or compliance
5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a regulatory body, law society, or similar public-protection mandate
Experience presenting cases or evidence before a committee, panel, or tribunal
Working knowledge of administrative law principles and rules of evidence
Demonstrated staff supervision and people-leadership experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment in sensitive, high-stakes matters
