Heavy Duty Mechanic - Fourth Year Apprentice

Salary Range: $51.13

Location: Entwistle, AB

As a Fourth Year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic at Drax, you will support routine maintenance on machines while continuing to develop your trade skills under the guidance of certified trades professionals. Your Day-to-Day as a Fourth Year Heavy Duty Mechanic:

Perform routine daily maintenance on mobile equipment to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and compliance with environmental policies.

Lead the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair a variety of Mobile equipment while working under appropriate supervision.

Perform troubleshooting equipment failures and issues, escalating complex repairs as needed.

Collaborate and assist with other trades in a team environment to enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and production.





Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects

Provide assistance and expertise for projects, including planning as needed.

Work together with Drax staff to ensure safety, efficiency, quality, and timely project execution.

Learning, Safety, and Team Collaboration

Demonstrate Drax Zero Harm by actively contributing to a secure and healthy work setting, following standards and procedures and complying with legislation and regulations.

What you’ll bring:

Registered as a Fourth Year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic

Previous hands-on experience in heavy duty mechanical maintenance, preferably in a heavy industrial environment

Progressing toward completion of a heavy duty mechanic apprenticeship

Knowledgeable in various maintenance practices

Skilled in building rapport and fostering working relationships with key stakeholders, using a collaborative and supportive approach to achieve goals

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Confident in challenging the status quo and influencing as necessary

Self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and manage competing demands

Effective problem solver with the capability to identify and implement resolutions

Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to support maintenance activities.
