Operational Technology Engineer Pay Rate: $50.33/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 2 years
Location: Burnaby, British Columbia
Raise is currently hiring an Operational Technology Engineer on behalf of our client. They're expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description The Operational Technology (OT) & Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Engineer (EIT) in this role will supportGeneration Capital Projects. In this role, you will manage OT services activities across all project lifecycle phases-from initial design through implementation, testing, and commissioning. Working collaboratively across cross-functional teams, you will act as the primary technical coordination point for OT project status, network architecture development, device integration, and compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards. This is an exciting prospect for an Engineer-in-Training looking to advance their career in power generation, cybersecurity, and industrial infrastructure.
Responsibilities Project Execution & Technical Coordination
Capital Project Lifecycle Support: Manage Generation Capital Project OT Services activities from initial design through implementation, field testing, and commissioning.
Team Liaison & Tracking: Act as the primary point of contact for project status, tracking, technical coordination, and deliverables across project and construction teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Host cross-functional meetings,
document technical decisions, track action items, and facilitate project milestones with engineering, operations, maintenance, and cybersecurity groups.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate vendor participation and document device functionality, integration capabilities, and technical requirements.
ICS & OT Network Engineering
Network Design & Architecture: Design, implement, and support industrial control system (ICS) and operational technology (OT) network solutions tailored for generation facilities.
System Integration: Integrate ICS devices and communication equipment into Generation Plant local area networks (LANs).
Documentation & CAD: Update and maintain generation network infrastructure drawings and engineering documentation using AutoCAD.
Infrastructure Support: Support capital, maintenance, lifecycle replacement, and cybersecurity projects across generation control infrastructure.
Compliance, Testing & Field Operations
Testing & Quality Assurance: Participate in engineering design reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and field implementation.
NERC CIP Support: Support work packages and compliance activities related to NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), including annual drawing reviews, technical assessments, and documentation updates.
Procedure & Job Aid Creation: Develop and maintain technical work instructions, standard procedures,
and job aids for OT services.
Field Support: Provide periodic field support, site assessments, and construction quality assurance to verify compliance with engineering designs and specifications.
Qualifications (2) years of relevant engineering experience (or equivalent)
Assets & Preferred Experience
OT/ICS Experience: Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Operational Technology (OT), and industrial communications networks.
Design Standards: Working knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering drawing standards.
Capital Projects: Prior experience supporting capital projects, maintenance programs, or industrial infrastructure projects.
Regulatory & Compliance: Familiarity with NERC CIP standards and direct experience with NERC CIP compliance activities.
Software Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Visio.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to prepare technical reports, process diagrams, and engineering documentation.
Presentation Skills: Strong ability to effectively present technical information to project teams, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary groups.
Education
University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Professional Designation: Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status required at the time of submission.
Additional Information Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
Every contractor must supply their own "Smart Phone".This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
