THE ROLE: We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join our Financial Reporting team in Calgary, AB. You will be responsible for providing accounting expertise and advice to support business initiatives and activities for PETRONAS Canada. In addition to executing core financial reporting activities, this individual will proactively identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve controls, and automate manual activities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and analytical capabilities with intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, enabling them to identify risks, challenge assumptions, uncover efficiencies, and focus their efforts on delivering meaningful business insights.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial analyses and consolidated financial statements
Perform and review month-end close activities,



including accruals, manual journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy
Assist in the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, including property, plant and equipment, capital expenditures, operating expenses, loans, leases, asset retirement obligations, intercompany balances, depreciation, and other key accounts

Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models to support monthly forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking
Analyze financial results, identify key variances, trends, and emerging business issues, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to management to support decision-making
Prepare and deliver management reporting packages, ensuring clarity, consistency, and actionable insights
Build a strong understanding of financial reporting processes, systems, and controls, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Prepare and process revenue invoices for intercompany transactions
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring accounting and reporting activities, reducing manual effort and enhancing process efficiency
Challenge existing processes and controls by applying a critical and analytical mindset to improve accuracy, consistency, and scalability




Leverage systems and data tools to improve reporting capabilities and enable more value-added financial analysis
WHAT YOU BRING: Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA professional designation is required
4+ years of relevant experience
Practical experience and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels in the organization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
Flexibility to meet the demands of an international company
Proficiency with SAP, Analysis for Office, and Excel are considered assets
Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies through automation, standardization, and simplification
Naturally curious and inquisitive, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and seek better ways of working
