Group Fitness Instructor $28 per hour (includes vacation pay and any prep time)
Job Description:
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, safe, and inclusive fitness classes for members of the Nipissing University community. Instructors will lead classes such as yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and bootcamp, creating a positive and welcoming environment that supports participant wellness and participation.
This position will assist with the following duties:
Plan and deliver structured, high-quality group fitness classes
Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and modifications to accommodate all ability levels
Ensure participant safety by promoting proper technique and adherence to facility guidelines
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating class environment
Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes
Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and studio spaces
Track attendance as required and provide feedback on programming
Support promotion of group fitness programs and special events
Respond professionally to participant questions and concerns
Minimum Qualifications:
Current certification or training relevant to the class being instructed (e.g., Yoga Instructor Certification, Pilates Certification, Group Fitness Certification, Zumba License, etc.)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lead groups in a secure, inclusive, and engaging manner
Previous experience leading fitnessclasses is considered an asset
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment
