We have two school-aged children (ages 5 and 9), both in French Immersion. The main goal of this role is to help create a calm, organized, positive morning routine while also preparing breakfast and school lunches.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable taking initiative and becoming familiar with our family's routine rather than waiting to be directed through every task.
Responsibilities

- Prepare a nutritious breakfast and school lunch for the children
- Help keep the children moving through their morning routine, including:
- brushing teeth and washing faces
- getting dressed
- making beds and tidying bedrooms
- filling water bottles
- packing lunches and backpacks
- making sure they have everything needed for school
- helping them get shoes/coats on and ready to leave
- Encourage the children to complete age-appropriate tasks independently while providing calm reminders and assistance when needed
- Engage warmly with the children and help keep mornings positive, structured, and low-stress
- Help with light kitchen cleanup related to breakfast and lunch preparation
- Keep the breakfast/kitchen area reasonably tidy after the morning routine
- Occasionally help with simple food preparation for the following day if time permits
- Communicate clearly with parents about anything important that comes up during the morning

French




French fluency is strongly preferred. Because both children attend French Immersion, we would love someone who can speak French with them naturally throughout the morning and encourage them to respond in French.
Ideal Candidate

- Reliable and punctual — the 6:30 AM start time is significant
- Has previous experience caring for or working with school-aged children
- Calm, patient, nurturing, and confident setting gentle boundaries
- Comfortable taking ownership of a routine and noticing what needs to be done
- Able to prepare simple, healthy meals that children will enjoy
- Organized and able to manage several morning tasks at once
- Comfortable encouraging independence rather than doing everything for the children
- Positive and emotionally steady, particularly during busy transitions
- Communicates well with parents and is open to feedback
- Has a reliable commute and can consistently arrive on time
