Position OverviewThe Database Architect will serve as the subject matter expert for databases within ACS. They will proactively form and drive a council consisting of database experts and interested parties from across ACS and take personal responsibility for ensuring organizational readiness to deliver high quality database-backed services. They will also work with our infrastructure engineering teams to automate and deploy standards across the database fleet.You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, AEC Construction and will work remotely based in Canada.ResponsibilitiesContinuously assess our broad database readiness/needsIdentify significant risks/gapsCharter tactical and strategic solutions for our DB platform team to executeIntroduce improvements in key areas includingProactive capacity managementMonitoring/alertingTuning/pruningShardingMigrationsSchema and query optimizationDeadlock resolutionLoad optimizationDB performanceData replication management for reportingCreate and evangelize/institutionalize general best practices and health modelsUtilize industry standard observability tooling and AWS automation to implement standards across a fleet of databasesForm a high-impact council of experts from across ACS to leverage as championsProvide direct consulting with individual teams as well as COE leads on readiness/risksSelect/curate appropriate broad training opportunities for ACS Engineering in database technologies/managementProvide tactical support in the case of true emergenciesMinimum QualificationsMinimum of 8 years experience in database architecture and dataplane for enterprise SaaS platform at scaleMinimum of 8 years of PostgreSQL experienceMinimum of 5 years experience with cloud data technologiesMinimum of 5 years experience with NoSQL cloud-based architecturesExcellent communication and organizational skills to share your expertise and influence positive outcomesPreferred QualificationsYou are a leader and team-builder, comfortable working across a distributed group of service owners who do not report directly to youYou are a fearless problem-solver and model-driven thinkerYou embrace big challenges and apply rigorous yet efficient methods in your solutionsYou are results-driven, have a strong bias for action and a solid sense of accountabilityAbout Autodesk Construction SolutionsAutodesk has fully reimagined the construction business for the digital age, enabling companies to address the most important challenges they face today while preparing for new ways of working in the future. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,000 and $191,400. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
