Leads and provides strategic support and advice related to Indigenous community engagement with respect to a range of topics and issues associated with MH's operations throughout Manitoba.Responsibilities:Provide content expertise and guidance to management ensuring obligations of adverse effects agreements are addressed.Provide strategic analysis and support to develop creative solutions with various groups in and out of the Business Unit related to issues that arise with respect to adverse effects of hydro-electric development.Write briefing materials,



recommendations or discussion papers at a high degree of accuracy for internal and external audiences, including undertaking any associated advanced analysis or research.Develop and implement engagement plans and programs related to various operational activities and initiatives.Develop collaborative working relationships, internally and externally, to identify and incorporate best practices in areas of strategic importance to Indigenous community engagement.Develop responses to correspondence and inquiries from regulators, communities and other interested parties.Liaise with other corporate relationship holders to coordinate activities and ensure focus on strategic outcomes with external interested parties.Take a lead role in negotiating new and/or implementing existing agreements to address adverse effects of hydro-electric development.Work directly with external stakeholders, including affected communities and their leadership, resource user groups and provincial and federal government representatives, to address adverse effects concerns and the related mitigation, compensation or relationship responses.Routinely handle material of a sensitive and confidential nature.Qualifications:A four year degree in a related discipline from a university of recognized standing plus five years related experience, two of which involve hydro development impacts; ORA two year diploma in a related discipline plus seven years related experience,



two of which involve hydro development impacts; ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience.A Master's degree in a related discipline such as Natural Resources, Law, Sciences or Business would be considered an asset.Understanding of hydro-electric development in Manitoba with knowledge of existing agreements related to Project impacts.Awareness of and demonstrated sensitivity to the values, beliefs, rights, interests and aspirations of Indigenous peoples.Exceptional writing, editing and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in developing a range of communication materials for internal and external audiences, including briefing materials, recommendations, reports, presentations and correspondence.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff at all levels of the Corporation.Possess mature judgment, discretion and the ability to handle material which is highly confidential in nature.Required to travel throughout Manitoba, as required, by all modes of transportation i.E. air, land and water.Salary RangeStarting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
