We're thrilled to welcome those who want to learn more about us and to be part of what we do.Your opportunity:As a Finance & Payroll Assistant in this joint role supporting the Department of Biology and the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences, you will work closely with faculty,
principal investigators (PIs), and units across the University to ensure that business transactions align with generally accepted accounting principles, the University's financial and purchasing guidelines, and research funding policies. You will apply strong financial management, analytical, and auditing skills—along with a high level of professionalism, customer service, and a solid attention to detail—to support effective and compliant departmental operations.Your responsibilities will include:Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to all financial tasksChecking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactionsMonitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on research and operating fundsPreparing and/or processing journal entriesGenerating standard financial reportsPreparing and recording deposits on a regular basisIdentifying and resolving individual financial discrepanciesResponding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateEssential Qualifications:Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum three years of experience, including recording financial transactions (recording,
reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts, preparing and/or processing journal entries).Demonstrated experience in monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts.Experience in processing accounts payable and accounts receivable according to the University Guide to Financial Management or similar.Experience in reconciling accounts and preparing and/or processing journal entries.Ability to prepare budget variance reports.Experience in processing expense reimbursements.Experience supporting clients by liaising with them and vendors to resolve minor complaints and address issues.To be successful in this role, you will be:AccountableAdaptableApproachableMeticulousOrganizedProblem solverClosing Date: 02/19/2026, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Term Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855.
