Sinai Health provides on-site learning and training such as IV Therapy, CVAD, complex wound care (VAC therapy) and leading practices in wound care and code blue.About this team:We are a 32-bed unit where patients are admitted for specialized complex supportive care or medical/neurological/orthopedic reconditioning. Our Neurological & Medical Complex Care Program provides specialized complex care for patients who have moderate to severe impairment in their mobility, cognitive function and/or communication due to brain injuries or neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy.
We aim to help patients adapt to new changes as a result of illness/diagnosis, focus on quality of life and help transition to the most appropriate clinical setting. In this role you will:Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in collaboration with the patient, significant others and interprofessional teamEstablish patient care plans based on bio-psychosocial and spiritual needs assessment and integrating other health professionals' recommendationsEnhance comprehensive health and physical assessment skills for patients with multiple complex co-morbidities and neurological conditionsObserve and interpret non-verbal patient communicationAssist with activities of daily living and mobilityAssess and manage care of patients with evolving acuity Utilize your full scope of practice Utilize specialize skills and knowledge including tracheostomy, enteral feeding tube, ostomies, nephrostomy tubes, pain management and complex wound care.Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required=Job Type: CasualJob Requirements:MandatoryCurrent certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificationPreferredA baccalaureate degree from a CNO-approved nursing programRecent completion of a physical assessment courseSkills and KnowledgeSuperior assessment and clinical skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProven ability to make decisions and manage workload in a quick-paced work environmentComputer proficiencyDemonstrated ability in providing patient-focused careMust have physical strength, flexibility and endurance required to perform the role, as determined by the needs of the position and based on assessment conducted by Occupational Health ServicesSalary: Minimum - $37.93/hour; Maximum - $54.37/hourVacancy Type: New/Replacement Vacancy If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your career within neurological and medical complex care, apply now and let us know why you'd be a great addition to our team.
