This role plays a critical part in the engineering, safety, and performance of boilers, furnaces, burners, and fired equipment systems used in thermal oil sands production. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for supporting the design, specification, and operation of multi-fuel-fired equipment, including systems using alternative and blended fuels. This role combines office-based engineering, regulatory compliance, and site-based technical support in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.Skills and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilitiesEngineering and reviewing boilers, furnaces, burners, and fired equipment systemsSupporting multi-fuel firing systems, including alternative and blended fuel sourcesReviewing burner management systems (BMS) and safety interlocksPreparing and reviewing equipment specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions (MRs)Ensuring compliance with Alberta fuel safety authorities and applicable codes and standardsReviewing vendor quotations, drawings, and technical submissionsParticipating in FAT and SAT activitiesSupporting site inspections, commissioning,



and troubleshootingProviding technical guidance to clients and project teamsIn addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their career development.Your knowledge/skills, education and experienceKnowledge/Qualification/Training/CertificationMechanical Engineering degreeProfessional Engineer (P.Eng) registered with APEGASAGD project experienceStrong knowledge of boilers, furnaces, burners, and fuel systemsExperience working with Alberta fuel safety regulations and authoritiesExperience reviewing vendor packages and technical documentationAbility to travel to site for inspections and supportCommunicationExcellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.Behaviour/Core CompetenciesSafety-focused and accountable, recognizing the critical nature of fired equipment and fuel systemsDetail-oriented and process-driven, ensuring systems meet regulatory and technical requirementsConfident and professional when interfacing with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodiesHSSEQThe Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; its clients and the governing authorities of the host country.Details about the roleLocation: Calgary or Edmonton, AlbertaRelocation Required: NoTravel: Yes — site visits as required (up to approximately twice per month)Contract Type: Full-timeExperience Level: 10+ years#J-18808-Ljbffr
