Position Overview

City of Salmon Arm is accepting applications for a Part Time Casual Recreation Assistant at the SASCU Recreation Centre. The role reports to the Aquatics and Programming Manager of the Shuswap Recreation Society and assists in providing recreation programs, courses and special events.

Responsibilities

- Work the reception area at the Recreation Centre.
- Plan and deliver program activities.
- Set up and take down program space.
- Teach youth leadership courses such as Red Cross Babysitters course, Safe at Home, Motoring Munchkins, etc.

Qualifications

- Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
- Standard First Aid certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with children.
- Training in Early Childhood Education, Recreation Leadership,



or Red Cross Babysitting Course Facilitator certification is considered an asset.

Compensation and Perks

Hourly rate of $24.64, in accordance with the CUPE Local 1908 Collective Agreement, plus 14% in lieu of benefits and vacation.

Criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check, is required.

Additional Information

Position is part-time, casual; hours will vary and the successful candidate may be called to ensure coverage for operations is maintained.
