Our team of experienced professionals is driven by a passion for excellence, a collaborative approach, and a focus on building lasting client relationships.Position OverviewLauren Services is currently seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the development and execution of I&C engineering designs for industrial projects in the Oil & Gas, Power, and Petro-Chemical sectors. This role will involve working on a variety of engineering tasks and providing support through all phases of project execution. This is a hybrid in-office position with flexible work hours and access to our EIT Mentorship Program.ResponsibilitiesPrepare I&C design deliverables including instrument indexes, loop diagrams, wiring and termination drawings, control panel layouts, and system architecture diagramsExtract and analyze information from P&IDs and process documents to support design activitiesSpecify and select field instruments and control devices based on process and design requirementsDevelop control philosophies, cause & effect matrices, and system narrativesSupport site visits, commissioning, and start-up activitiesCreate material specifications, data sheets,



and support technical bid evaluationsReview vendor documentation for compliance with project requirementsEnsure adherence to applicable industry codes and standards (CEC, ISA, CSA, etc.)Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including project managers and other engineersMaintain compliance with Lauren's health, safety, and quality management proceduresQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering from an accredited institution2–5 years of experience in engineering design, preferably in oil & gas or EPCM environmentsEnrolled or eligible for enrollment as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) through EGBCSolid understanding of control panels, DCS/PLC systems, loop drawings, and field instrumentationExperience with control system architecture and industrial instrumentationKnowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and other applicable standardsStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environmentProject management experience is considered an asset but not requiredSkills and AttributesAbility to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneouslyDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilitiesCollaborative and proactive approach to project executionComfortable interacting with engineers, designers, and project stakeholdersFamiliarity with DBMs, project plans, and scheduling from an electrical input perspective is an assetWhat We OfferHybrid work model with flexible hoursEIT Mentorship ProgramSupportive and collaborative work environmentOpportunity to work on meaningful projects in the energy sectorCareer development and advancement opportunitiesLocationCalgary, Alberta (Hybrid)DepartmentEngineeringEmployment TypeContractor or EmployeeMinimum ExperienceMid-levelCompensation$45-$55/hour DOE
