Salary: CAD $32.84 - $44.96 / hour
Location: Surrey, B.C.
Job Summary: We are hiring a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse to join staff at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care & Surgery Centre.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document practical nursing care for patients undergoing oscopy, minor surgical procedures, wound care, and other outpatient procedures/consultations during the pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure/consultation periods.
- Assist with admission of patients to procedure/consultation rooms and perform intra‑procedure/consultation duties for patients undergoing oscopy in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Perform practical nursing duties during the pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure/consultation periods.
- Observe and monitor patients’ conditions during procedures/consultations to ensure safety and comfort; provide patient condition information and feedback to supervisors and/or physicians.
- Document observations into patients’ records, including treatment and other patient care information.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and program evaluation activities, education sessions, team conferences, meetings, and committees as assigned.
- Assist with orientation of recent staff, students, and other team members by demonstrating work procedures and general department procedures.
- Perform related clerical duties such as answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages,
and assisting in maintaining standardized records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent relevant clinical experience in minor surgical procedures or other outpatient procedures, and completion of relevant coursework and/or certification, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current basic cardiac life support certification.

- Ability to use factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support nursing decisions and actions with relevant research‑based evidence and evidence‑informed practice.
- Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
