Industrial Mechanic / Millwright
Location: Toronto, ON – Dufferin & Steeles Area
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay: $40.00–$50.00 per hour
About the Company
Our client is a leading Canadian manufacturer of office furniture, with additional product lines supporting the healthcare and education sectors.
This position supports a metal manufacturing facility operating a variety of industrial production equipment, including hydraulic presses, punch presses, robotic welding cells, ABB robots, conveyors, powder coating equipment, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other manufacturing machinery.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic / Millwright to join the Maintenance team.
This is a hands-on position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving industrial production equipment.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, diagnosing equipment failures, troubleshooting older machinery, and responding to production breakdowns with minimal supervision.
A trade license is considered an asset but is not required. Candidates currently performing similar industrial maintenance work are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on industrial production equipment.
- Independently troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical/control issues.
- Maintain and repair equipment including presses, punch presses, conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes, sensors, VFDs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and automated equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Troubleshoot and maintain older manufacturing equipment with limited supervision.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, and work orders.
- Complete preventative maintenance activities and maintain accurate records using CMMS.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, uptime, and production efficiency.
- Follow established plant safety and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes, and production machinery.
- Experience with electrical controls, sensors, motors, and VFDs is highly desirable.
- Experience with presses, punch presses, robotics, ABB equipment, or robotic welding cells is considered an asset.
- 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright certification, apprenticeship, related skilled-trades education, or equivalent hands-on industrial maintenance experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to independently diagnose equipment failures and complete mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working with both older and newer manufacturing equipment.
- Experience using CMMS or other maintenance tracking systems is an asset.
- Must own and maintain a basic set of hand tools.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on industrial maintenance professional who enjoys figuring out why a machine isn't working and how to get it running again.
You are comfortable working independently, have robust mechanical aptitude, understand hydraulics and pneumatics, and have enough electrical knowledge to troubleshoot common production-equipment issues.
You do not need to be a PLC programmer or robotics specialist. We are primarily looking for a strong industrial mechanic who can troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 kg (66 lbs).
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely work around industrial machinery.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, lubricants, and other typical industrial conditions.
- Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts when properly licensed.
Pay: $40.00–$50.00 per hour
