Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario's oldest and most renowned park, spans an impressive 7,635 square kilometers of diverse landscapes, including maple hills, rocky ridges, and thousands of lakes. The park offers a wide range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, such as canoeing, hiking, and fishing, with world-class trout fishing opportunities. Visitors can explore the park's interior by paddle or on foot and enjoy camping at one of eight campgrounds along Highway 60. The park also features 14 interpretive trails, an exceptional Visitor Centre, a Logging Museum, and an Art Centre. Year-round activities include skiing, snowshoeing, and skating, making Algonquin a perfect destination for nature lovers in any season.About the jobIn this role, you will: oversee park maintenance operations under the direction of the Park Superintendent and assistant Park Superintendent and provide leadership and training to staff at Algonquin Provincial Park in the area of park maintenance.Assist in the preparation, review and updating of various park plansmeet with park visitors, contractors, and business operators, as required by program area responsibilitiesexplain park rules to park patrons and requesting compliance, issue warnings, intervene and carry out evictionsschedule work, set priorities, and ensure work is completed in a safe manneroperate and maintain the park water treatment plantprocure goods for the maintenance programoperate a variety of equipment such as tractors, chainsaws, landscaping equipment and tools.Please note that staff housing is not provided at the park.What you bring to the teamMandatory requirements:You possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence, or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario.You are able to be designated as a Park Warden and complete Ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.You possess or have the ability to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate.You can work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule.Technical knowledge and skills:You have: working knowledge of services and operating regulations to perform all regulatory inspections and assessments, assist with overall park maintenance operations.Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply park policies, procedures, directives and operating standards to deliver productive and effective park operationsdemonstrated knowledge of law enforcement and applicable Provincial and Federal legislationknowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulationsknowledge of general facility, grounds keeping,



utility and equipment maintenancedemonstrated experience using various equipment such as chainsaws, cutters, and lawn mowers, etc.Knowledge of small drinking water systems and water treatment facility maintenanceexperience with park operations, procedures and policies including park reservation systems (ex.
