Full-Time, Permanent – Markham, Ontario

We are a small established CPA firm in Markham seeking a full-time Accounting Technician / Bookkeeper to join our team.

This position is well suited to someone looking for a reliable, long-term career in accounting, bookkeeping and public practice. A CPA designation is not required.

Responsibilities

- Client bookkeeping and year-end bookkeeping cleanup
- Bank and credit-card reconciliations
- Preparation of GST/HST returns
- Payroll and preparation of T4/T5 slips
- Preparation of personal income tax returns
- Assistance with compilation engagement working papers and financial statements
- Assistance with corporate tax returns as experience develops
- CRA correspondence and obtaining information from CRA
- General office administration and support, including firm bookkeeping and other routine office matters

Qualifications

- College diploma in Accounting, Business Accounting or a related program
- Good understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping
- Strong computer skills




- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, accurate and dependable
- Comfortable dealing with clients by telephone and in person
- Willing to assist with general office administration as part of the position
- Previous bookkeeping or public accounting experience is an asset, but recent accounting graduates will also be considered
