Gaspereau After School Program

Regular Part Time

Position Description The Regular Part Time Person at The Gaspereau After School Program (GASP) will assist in implementing the after school program, reporting to the Director and adheres to all the policies and procedures set out by the Gaspereau After School Program Society, the Nova Scotia Before and After Program, and the relevant provincial regulations.

Required Qualifications, Certifications, Skills and Experience

· Intermediate First Aid (including infant/child CPR)

· Current and clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry letter

· Experience in a recognized child care/educational/recreational program considered an asset

Position Specific Skills

· Provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children

· Provide a positive and fun experience for all children

· Assist in carrying out a balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities

· Assist children with social interactions and (when necessary) conflict resolution

· Provide positive guidance such as redirection, positive language, and positive reinforcement





· Maintain confidentiality of all information relating to the Program’s children, their families, and GASP staff.

· Create and maintain positive working relationships with the staff of the Gaspereau Valley Elementary School

· Maintain a high degree of health and safety each day, following safety protocols, procedures, and best practices

Hours and location of work

· Gaspereau Valley Elementary School

2pm- 5:30pm Monday to Friday

· Excludes school holidays (winter break, March Break, summer)

Additional considerations

· Must have reliable transportation

Beginning date: August 31st 2026

Job Types: Part time, Permanent, Seasonal

Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
