Responsibilities

As a Delivery Agent (letter carrier):

- Start day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries.
- Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle.
- Deliver mail and packages by foot or vehicle to customers on the route.
- Return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery.

As a Postal Clerk:

- Work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages.
- Work various shifts (may include evenings, nights and weekends).
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Receive and accept mail items.
- Sort, scan, sequence and batch mail items.




- Transfer and dispatch parcels and packets.
- Perform other postal clerk duties as required.
- Complete reports and documentation.

Qualifications

- Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required).
- Physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day.
- Ability to work in all types of weather.
- Availability to be on-call, possibly evenings and weekends.
- Ability to read, write and speak English and/or French.

Additional Experience

- Experience in customer service.
- Experience making deliveries or working as a driver.
- Experience working in a production workplace (asset).
