About Lascelles

Lascelles Engineering and Associates Ltd. is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm serving clients throughout Eastern Ontario. Our team provides structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental, aggregate-resource, material-testing, and construction-related engineering services.

Due to increased workload, Lascelles is creating a new full-time position for an AutoCAD Draftsperson, CAD Technician, or Engineering Technologist with approximately two to three years of relevant experience.

The successful candidate will work primarily on grading, septic-system, environmental, geotechnical, and aggregate-resource plans. A civil drafting background would be ideal; however, candidates with relevant structural or architectural drafting experience will also be considered. The candidate may also assist our structural, architectural, and mechanical/electrical teams with drafting during peak periods.

The position may be based at either our Ottawa or Hawkesbury office.

Responsibilities

- Prepare engineering plans, details, technical figures, and related drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare existing-condition and base plans using topographic surveys, legal surveys, field measurements, and other available information.
- Assist with the preparation of grading and drainage plans showing elevations, slopes, contours, drainage patterns, and related site features.
- Prepare septic-system plans, profiles, sections, and construction details under the direction of engineers and qualified designers.
- Prepare geotechnical and environmental investigation plans showing boreholes, test pits, monitoring wells, sampling locations, site features, and other relevant information.
- Prepare environmental report figures, contaminant-delineation plans, remediation plans, excess-soil figures, and related drawings.
- Assist with the preparation and amendment of pit and quarry site plans, including existing conditions, operational features, setbacks, phasing, rehabilitation, and technical details.
- Convert engineering sketches, field information, design calculations, markups, and project data into clear and accurate drawings.
- Revise drawings following internal reviews, client comments, agency comments,



and design changes.
- Coordinate drawings with information provided by engineers, surveyors, environmental professionals, geotechnical staff, architects, contractors, and other project team members.
- Assist with structural, architectural, and mechanical/electrical drawings when required.
- Maintain organized drawing files, templates, standards, and project records.
- Perform drawing checks and help ensure that deliverables meet Lascelles’ drafting and quality-control standards.
- Participate in occasional site visits and field measurements.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related technical program.
- Approximately two to three years of relevant drafting experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience preparing civil, structural, architectural, environmental, geotechnical, or similar technical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret surveys, engineering drawings, architectural drawings, construction plans, and technical information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, well-organized work.
- Ability to manage priorities and work on several projects concurrently.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Assets

- Experience preparing grading, drainage, or land-development plans.
- Understanding of elevations, contours, slopes, coordinate systems, scales, and basic site-grading principles.
- Experience preparing septic-system plans and familiarity with Ontario Building Code Part 8 requirements.




- Experience preparing environmental or geotechnical investigation plans and technical figures.
- Experience preparing pit and quarry site plans or other drawings related to aggregate-resource operations.
- Experience with structural, architectural, or mechanical/electrical drafting.
- Experience performing site measurements and preparing existing-condition drawings.
- Membership in, or eligibility for membership in, OACETT.
- Ability to communicate in French.
